The CRE is open just about 365 days of the year for business. Events and programs run 50 of those days. Between 250,000 and 300,000 people attend the CRE annually to partake in the sights and activities. The CRE offers a multitude of agricultural, entertainment, education and leisure programs.
The grounds are located one kilometre east of Camrose, Alberta's Rose City, on Highway 13. The site has 107,200 square feet of covered space for exhibits, conventions and banquets. Also on the site is a 5/8 mile racetrack, camping space for 9,000 trailers and 1,400 parking stalls.
Each August, the grounds fall prey to an invasion of RVs, campers and lawn chairs when the annual Big Valley Jamboree hits the stage. The event, which features some of the biggest names in country music, draws thousands of people from all over the continent. The site was also used for a number of years by Canadian supergroup The Tragically Hip, who staged their Another Roadside Attraction festival, featuring a number of high-profile and up-and-coming national rock bands. Other events, like rodeos and the Camrose Regional Exhibition, also use the facility.
