Off the Beaten Path
Good things come to those who are willing to veer off the beaten path to find a night of entertainment. It may not be on the densely packed streets of Whyte Avenue or in the heart of Edmonton’s beautiful downtown area, but the Northern Light Theatre Company’s Third Space provides such an entirely enjoyable experience that its modest dwellings will not be a deterrent. If you’re hot on the trail for the foremost leader in Edmonton’s thriving alternative and adult-centered theatre scene, look no further than the corner of 115 Ave and 103 St.

Breaking Down the Fourth Wall
Since 1975, The Third Space has been providing a forum for Edmonton’s most innovative productions, most provocative scripts and its finest actors. In fact, audiences in the 80-seat theatre may often find themselves as an integral part of the show itself. If a play has a classroom setting, the audience will sit in desks, and if the play takes place at a cabaret, the decor will be that of a cabaret. At three main stage productions a year plus one reading series every Halloween, The Third Space audiences will have plenty of opportunities to join in on the fun.

Not Always for Adults Only
The Third Space may be a terrific source for progressive, adult-oriented theatre, but that doesn’t mean that kids can’t get involved with the wonderful world of theatre. Every year, the Northern Light Theatre Company puts on two separate theatre summer camps for kids only. There is a one-week camp for six to eight year olds and a two-week camp for nine to fifteen year olds. At the end of the latter camp, the kids put on a production of their own. Truly, there is something for everyone at The Third Space theatre.
