Acajulta is one of few places in Edmonton offering real Mexican fare. Now on 107 Avenue, a host of loyal regulars allows the restaurant to have a busy, fun and vibrant atmosphere. Acajutla is decorated in traditional garb with flags and Mexican decorations, making you feel like you just stepped into a restaurant in South America. The waitresses add to the great atmosphere by wearing traditional Salvadorian outfits.
Real Mexican Food
Acajulta is the real deal when it comes to getting a taste from south of the border. Stuffed corn tortillas, like the pupusa (with pork, cheese and beans) and the pastes (potato and pork), are logical choices for appetizers, while favourite entrées include the shrimp with garlic sauce (comes with salad and rice) and the chile rellenos. The latter is a stuffed green bell pepper, loaded with spiced ground beef. Some other great options are tacos, tamales, fajitas, quesadillas and enchiladas.
Small but Great
The small restaurant has a decent array of desserts as well; flan and rice pudding are two examples. But for a more accurate representation of great Mexican food, how can you resist the fried bananas? This restaurant has been voted one of the best Mexican restaurants in Edmonton numerous times; drop by to find out why. Ole!
