The Scene
Hey, it's a fast-paced world we live in nowadays. Who can honestly say they can't use a little bit of simple Old World Charm now and again, right down to the two-tone interiors and stained glass? The menu is from a different time as well, opting for a comparatively few, well-prepared dishes, to the current trend of many dishes done average-like.

The Food
Four salads, including the El Greco-tomato with onions, cucumber, olives and feta in an herb vinaigrette. You don't see so many places with escargot anymore, but Matesse has it, and Hungarian bruschetta, too. Entrée-wise, there's some salmon, some chicken, some pasta or, hint hint, the garlic shrimp Matesse. The only times Milan's opens earlier than 4:30 in the afternoon is on weekends for brunch, and even then they make sure it's a civilized 11:30 in the morning before the doors open. That menu features much the same stuff as the dinner menu, but also includes several different eggs Benedict and omelette variations, and juice and champagne.
