Cancer is a leading cause of death in Alberta. The Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF) aims to end this. Established in 1984, the Alberta Cancer Foundation raises funds and accepts donations on behalf of the Alberta Cancer Board. The foundation is made up of a team of researchers, cancer-care specialists, dedicated volunteers and donors. The foundation also provides support for province-wide research, prevention programs, a patient financial assistance program and enhances the patient care at all Alberta Cancer Board cancer centres.
Donations
If you’re wondering how donations to the ACF are used, much is put toward research while other funding is divided between patient care and support, endowments and prevention and screening. Donor support is very important to the continuation of cancer research. With every donation, the foundation and the Alberta Cancer Board come a step closer to implementing an innovative new cancer treatment, discovering and developing a piece of technology, assisting a family facing financial difficulties because of cancer treatments and researching projects that will bring us all closer to living in a world without cancer.
