The first Arby’s was opened in 1965 by two brothers Leroy and Forrest Raffel in Akron, Ohio. They wanted to create a different concept of a fast food restaurant. came up with the idea of Arby's. The restaurant featured a 69-cent roast beef sandwich, potato chips and iced tea.
World Famous Beef
Although known for its beef n' cheddar bun, the slow-cooked roast beef sandwich still comes with a special delightful sauce of its own and is one of the many reasons the restaurant remains popular with people who need to eat and run (or are looking for a reasonably priced lunch menu). Today, Arby's has franchises as far away as Japan and Mexico. The menu has also expanded to include other lighter fare such as chicken, fish and turkey.
Lots of Locations
With several locations spread throughout the city of Edmonton, the food chain also serves up potatoes (fried or baked), coleslaw, salads, desserts, shakes and a variety of other drinks. You won't find deals like a 69-cent roast beef sandwich anymore, but prices are still reasonable and well within the range of other fast food prices.
Details
For Non-Smokers: It's interesting to note that Arby's lays claim to the fact it was the first global fast food chain to institute a ban on smoking at all its franchises in 1994.
