Ask 10 Edmontonians to name their favourite from among the city's preponderance of Vietnamese restaurants and you might find yourself in for a long discussion, but Bach Dang is a name that should be cast into the discussion early. With many choices of dishes, a comfortable atmosphere and helpful service, Bach Dang is a great restaurant option.
Try a New Dish
The menu is extensive, even veering off at times into some basic Chinese fare like chow mein and wonton soup, but at its heart are the exotic satays, seafood and pan-fried, lemongrass-flavoured dishes that distinguish Vietnamese cuisine. Try an appetizer of charbroiled shrimp on sugar cane or some fresh salad rolls followed by a big bowl of rice vermicelli with your choice of meat. The Vietnamese noodle soups are always a great choice. Some Chinese dishes are also mixed into the menu and you can enjoy delights like Shanghai noodles, lemon grass chicken and stir-fries. There is a brief chorus of vegetarian dishes as well, but vegans must be mindful of the occasional use of oyster sauce and the strong likelihood of fish sauce in their food.
