Fitting in with the funky décor common on the Whtye avenue strip, Block 1912 is an artsy place with a great atmosphere. With warm colours, comfortable, stylish chairs and walls decorated with skill and good taste, Block 1912 is the perfect spot for studying, socializing, or just hanging out. Located as it is just a few doors down from the Princess Theatre, 1912 is a popular pre- and post-feature gathering place offering a decent selection of meal sized snacks, soups, salads, desserts and pastries. There are some vegetarian selections and you can also buy your coffee beans in bulk from them.
Screamingly Good Ice Cream
For speed and lack of a proper kitchen's sake, the food is pre-prepared and reheated to order in the microwave. But relax, everything is more than fine, straight through from the zippy tabouleh salad to the pleasantly surprising chicken curry. Tiramisu, anyone? Cheesecake? Ice cream or gelato? Their desserts will have your mouth watering. What's more, they keep a reading rack stocked with current editions of the New York Times, Globe and Mail and much more.
