It doesn't matter whether you own a Harley or a Hummer, bike riders and barristers are on unified territory in the tavern of the venerable Commercial Hotel. The common denominator, in this classic Edmonton venue, is a love of the blues. Here you will be able to find everything from swinging, Chicago-style rhythm to the deep tones of the Mississippi Delta.
It's a regular home away from home, where veteran musicians and locals alike bring down the house when they hit the stage. This is the place to be when the blues come to the city. A favourite pastime for patrons is the Saturday Afternoon Blues Jam, which has become a must for those who like their blues delivered straight up. All you need to do is find a comfortable spot between the bar and the stage, no easy feat at the best of times.
All Blues, All The Time
For those Blues aficionados that just can’t go without their fill, Blues on Whyte has it, with live music featured every day of the week. Go on your own, or take some friends and head over for a fabulous time. Seven days a week, this casual spot is guaranteed to get your toes moving to the beat. Even though live music is scheduled, cover charges only apply on Friday and Saturday nights, after 8pm. You would be hard pressed to find a better deal on Whyte.
Take Note: No reservations are taken, so get there early if you want to see the big acts.
