Buena Vista Park is for the dogs, and their masters (or, preferably, roommates)! The park, located in the city's west end, is a favourite with dog owners who want to let Rover out for a bit of roaming. It is an official off-leash dog area that is cared for by Edmonton's park systems. The large grassy fields give dogs plenty of room to stretch their legs, while their two-legged companions can explore the network of dirt trails weaving through the park.
Ready for Takeoff
Local balloonists like to use the park's wide-open spaces as a launching ground, so early on many summer mornings you’ll often see colourful balloons being filled with hot air in preparation for takeoff. The park stretches west of the North Saskatchewan River to approximately 138 Street, and north from Buena Vista Road to 91st Avenue. There is easy access to the adjacent Laurier Park and Valley Zoo and a broad footbridge connection to Hawrelak Park.
Fun For Two Legged Visitors As Well
You certainly don’t need to be accompanied by a four-legged friend to enjoy the expanse of this city park. All are welcome to walk through the open fields, but keep your eyes open for Frisbees that may be gliding through the air. The openness of the location is perfect for playfulness on a larger scale.

Take Note: For the safety of all, dogs must be leashed when balloons are launching.
