This tiny branch is a favorite stop for kids after school and on the weekend, and with families that live nearby. Conveniently located in a strip mall alongside grocery and specialty shops, this branch is in an ideal location to quickly pick up the books you’ve requested online in advance on your way home, or check your email while you’re out and about for the day. The library's year-round offering of programs for children and adults includes exhibitions, concerts, films, authors' readings, workshops, courses, puppet shows, craft time and theatre performances.
Free Internet
The library is one of the few places where anyone can get free computer and internet access. The Calder Branch has over 15 computers providing free Internet Access, even for those that don’t have a public library card: they will be issued a temporary card for internet access purposes. Be sure to book a computer online ahead of time using the Edmonton Public Library website to ensure you can use one when you want to. The computers are usually in use at all times in this busy location, especially after school!
Edmontonians Love their Libraries
There were over five million visits to the 16 library locations in 2006 which is a lot considering that Edmonton contains just over a million people! Library members have access to hardcover and paperback books, magazines and newspapers, reference and research materials, music CDs, DVDs, records, audio-cassettes, videocassettes, large print, regular print and audio-visual materials in more than thirty languages, and government information from local, provincial and federal levels. Photocopying machines are available at all branches.
