Located on the second floor of Capilano Mall, this library branch offers the nice surprise of a panoramic view of downtown from its second storey wall of windows. This is a roomy library, much bigger than you might initially suspect from walking down the main mall floor. This library branch has the ambience of a well loved destination for reading and quiet reflection. A window-lined corner with comfortable chairs and large tables invites library visitors to settle in and stay awhile.
Edmontonians Love their Libraries
The ample parking and convenient strip mall location close to a number of schools makes this library a popular stopping point after school and while doing the weekly shopping. You can access any book, CD, DVD, video from any of the branches by placing a hold using the online catalogue system. There were over five million visits to the 16 library locations in 2006, which is a lot considering that Edmonton contains just over a million people! Edmonton Public is leading the way among large urban library systems in Canada by adopting a self check system to for added convenience to library customers.
Free Internet Access
Want to check your email ? Complete a school assignment? Lookup books by your favorite author? The library is one of the few places where any member of the general public can get free computer and internet access, and very reasonably priced access to printing and photocopy services. The Capilano Branch offers access to more than 15 computers, all equipped with free Internet Access, even for those that don’t have a public library card (they will be issued a temporary card for internet access purposes). Those with a library card can book a station well in advance, using the online computer reservation system on the Edmonton Public library website.
