Located in the downtown Scotiabank Centre on Jasper Avenue, all you have to do is go down the escalator to be greeted by the friendly faces of Chicken For Lunch. But, be forewarned, if you’re heading down there during peak breakfast and lunch hours the line will be long. Tired of serving plain, old chicken burgers and the like, Chicken For Lunch brought in a menu that was all Asian, with specialties of hot and dry and hot and spicy chicken. This chicken has become so popular with patrons, who often wait 20 minutes or more for a fast-food lunch, that it has become something of an addiction for some. But it is no only the chicken that draws Chicken For Lunch’s clientele – the fact that 99 per cent of the customers are repeats and the owner, Amy, has the uncanny ability to remember almost everyone doesn’t hurt business, either. Proving this, there is even a Facebook group called Does Amy @ Chicken For Lunch Know Your Name?

Early Riser
Getting the kitchen going at 3:30am makes for a long day, but Amy welcomes everyone with enthusiasm and treats each person as if they’re family. Amy also offers daily specials on the five weekdays that she’s open, which range from curry chicken on Mondays to Korean chicken on Fridays. Lunch combos are flexible, with substitutions available for people on particular diets. Breakfast offers up the usual affordable fare of eggs, bacon, and toast, but the real winner here is Chicken For Lunch’s spicy wrap made with chili, ham, cheese, and tomato.

Fast Can Be a Good Thing
Fast food it technically is, but Chicken For Lunch is much more than that. With the personal and friendly service you get, as well as chicken so good some eat it for lunch every day, it’s hard to go wrong with Chicken For Lunch.
