Elegant Atmosphere; Laid-back Fun
Walking into Colours is a pleasant surprise: if you envision the slightly run-down, seedy, betting clubs prominently featured in movies, you’re out of luck. The ambiance at Colours is more elegant than that, and caters to a much more upscale crowd. The restaurant is very large, with a 700-seat area designated for patrons and the tables are staggered so that every spot has a good view of the racetrack. Each table has a colour television so that the guests can watch other races or, perhaps sporting events, happening simultaneously. A panoramic window looks out over the dirt track and winner’s circle. There are designated tables, though, for horse owners, so look for a table that doesn’t have a reserved sign on it.

Sophisticated Drink and Meal Menu
The bartenders at Colours have worked hard to create a drinks menu that includes original libations (the Passion for the Oilers—coconut rum, passion fruit juice and Sprite—comes highly recommended), as well as a comprehensive beer and wine menu. The dinner menu includes pub-fare staples, as well as more elegant fare: Maui ribs, steak, wild game, pasta and stir-fries, including a very popular ginger beef bowl. This Asian-inspired delight includes hot peppers, so it may be considered too spicy for a more delicate palate. There is also a kids menu, with child-friendly delights (hamburgers, chicken fingers and grilled cheese sandwiches are always popular).

Ending the Evening with a Treat
Colours features an exhaustive dessert and aperitif menu, with selections ranging from fresh in-seasons berries and custard, to carrot cake (homemade cream cheese icing tops this delight) and decadent triple chocolate cake. These desserts are a perfect topper to an evening spent filling your eyes, belly and senses with an unforgettable experience.
