Where Everybody Really Knows Your Name
It might be a long way from Alberta to the sea, but a short walk through Londonderry Mall will get you to a new Atlantic-themed pub. Located on the lower level of Edmonton’s largest north-side shopping mall, the pub has unique porthole-shaped entrance, which opens into a roomy space that features both a stage and ample space for enjoying shows. The pub also features the requisite bar, where you can cozy up to the bartender and watch while they pour the perfect pint. Unlike some pubs, though, the Docks features an open sunroom along its east wall, which means the room is always filled with light.

More than Pub Grub
While the pub is open for lunch and dinner, it really gets going during the weekends when live bands regularly play. Get there early and plan on sitting in the section that features raised tables; it affords the best view of the stage. In keeping with the maritime theme, the menu at The Docks featured seafood, seafood and more seafood. The usual pub-food lineup of wings, nachos and fries is available, of course, but the highlights are steamed PEI mussels, buckets of crab and seafood chowder. Main courses include Atlantic salmon filet with asparagus and the Sea and Ranch Special—a 10-ounce steak with salmon filet. The lunch menu choices that are particular favorites include the garlic fingers (with or without beer batter) and the salmon BLT; an east-coast twist on the classic. The serves are generous, as they’re made to feed hearty fishermen home after a day at sea.
