Centuries ago, long before the British set foot on Indian soil and proclaimed this subcontinent as their own, the Mughlai kingdom had ruled for nearly 800 years. Preserving the Mughlai method of preparing traditional dishes, the Jewel of the Kashmir applies a symphony of spices liberally to most of their lamb, chicken, goat and beef dishes. The secret to authentic Indian cuisine is the traditional tandoor oven, which the chefs at Jewel of Kashmir operate with skilled precision. The really hot items, both in terms of popularity and potency, are the tandoori-style dishes, served with a healthy component of saffron rice.
Intriguing Dishes
An extensive and intriguing menu features eight pages of exotic delights. With every entrée the customer can choose between mild, medium and hot spice levels to accommodate any individual preference. Experience a fantastic start to the evening with the appetizer platter, showcasing a number of delectable nibblers including two meat samosas, vegetable pakora (deep fried zucchini and mushrooms), onion bhaji (deep fried onion rings) and sheekh kabobs served with chutney and raita dipping sauces. The entrées are equally as tantalizing, the two most popular being the murgh makhanwana (butter chicken) and the mughlai korma lamb. Don’t forget to choose from among five Indian beers or a selection of fine red or white Indian wine to add the finishing touch to your feast.
Delightfully Indulgent Lunches
The lunch buffet provides a mouthwatering sampling of popular Indian specialties. Pick and choose among a generous offering of eight hot items, two types of rice, two handmade Indian breads, soups, salads and cold dishes, desserts. A nibble of ethnic pickles and dollop of homemade chutney will rounds out your palate, complementing the dishes perfectly.
Sweet Endings
The dimly lit space, rich and sensual colour scheme and enchanting artwork give the Jewel of Kashmir a romantic, unhurried feel. End your meal with a selection from the dessert menu including authentic Indian sweets or savour a cup of aromatic chai.
