A few years ago, the need for recreation facilities on the south side was high, but money was scarce. The city of Edmonton and the local Kinsmen Club teamed up to raises the funds to develop the Kinsmen Twin Arena in the Heritage area. This new twin arena opened in 1998 and helped alleviate the high demand for ice time for minor hockey, figure skating, and ringette organizations.
With two sheets of regulation ice, plus a large spectator area and modern dressing rooms, the Kinsmen arenas give hockey teams, parents and officials a comfortable place to get ready for games. The arenas are also linked to the adjacent William Lutsky YMCA, so it's possible to skate and swim without leaving the same complex. PUBLIC SKATING: Sunday from 3:45-4:45 p.m., Thursday from 7:30-8:30 p.m.
Free public skating: Grab your blades and enjoy some summer skating. In May, this is available Tuesdays from 6:45pm-7:45pm.
