A Central Hub for Fitness
Located just north of Sherwood Park, this recreational centre has it all. Walking into the massive structure, one can instantly view all of the 235 000 feet of facilities from a central lobby. Downstairs is a pool and a rink; upstairs is a wellness centre. At the back are soccer fields that can be converted into special event areas during the summer. Open since 2001, this gym has become a focus for many community activities as well as competitive sports.
Programs from Pool to Rink
From early morning until late at night, there’s always something to do at Millennium Place. The pool features waves and slides, as well as three lanes for lap swims. The rink offers public skates, skate rentals and shinny hockey. Lessons can be taken from preschool to senior level. At the Wellness Centre, cardio workouts are available for any age or level. There are also weight machines and an indoor track and a friendly and knowledgeable staff will help you plan your fitness program!
Special Events
During colder months, the indoor fields are used for baseball and lacrosse, as well as soccer. When it warms up, things get festive! The Chamber of Commerce hosts its trade show at Millennium. Graduations can be held at Millennium. Every April there is an Irish dance competition. In July of 2007, the complex features the Summer Games.
