Self-Sufficient Shops
When heading south of the river, consider doing your shopping in a less populated area than the big-box giant South Edmonton Common. Travel east instead to Mill Woods. This area is a major urban development that began in the 1970s, and is now a major residential area south of Whitemud Highway and east of Gateway Blvd and Calgary Trail. It was designed to be a self-contained community, so that residents would have no need to leave the community for shopping or recreation. The area is characterized by the Mill Creek running through the northeastern part of the community, and by the Mill Woods Town Centre in the middle.

Ravishing Retail
Mill Woods Town Centre is best known as a shopping mall and the commercial centre of the Mill Woods area and is considered to be most popular shopping mall in southeast Edmonton. With Zeller's and Canadian Tire as the anchor stores, the mall has become a major destination point for shoppers in a community that's sometimes challenging to navigate through. But whether you’re heading from the south (go east on 23rd Ave and turn left on 66th street) or from the north (head down Wayne Gretzky Drive and it turns into 66th street), the mall is well worth the hunt. Be sure to take advantage of the mall's huge selection of independent retail stores or chain retailers like HMV or Bata. With several dozen outlets under one roof, you're sure to find what you're looking for at Mill Woods Town Centre.
