Come One Come All
Muddy Waters has a diverse clientele. The majority of the patrons here are University of Alberta students. It’s no wonder academics are drawn to this local hang-out, Muddy Waters serves great food, displays local art, and has a humanitarian perspective on coffee service- all their java is fair trade! Seeing as the venue is named after the blues artist Morgan Muddy Waters, Muddy Waters café plays eclectic music, everything from soul and reggae, to hip-hop and blue-grass, in lieu of its namesake.

Think Quality Not Quantity
Muddy Waters, or Muds as some regulars call it, is small but has a big presence. It seats about 30-40 people depending on how many you squeeze on a couch! It’s the perfect place for a light afternoon lunch or pre-dinner snack, or evening pint. For lunch try the Muddy favourite ‘Florentine Panini’ decked out with chicken, pesto, spinach, mozzarella cheese and tomato on a tasty onion bun. For a side to your fair-trade coffee try one of the in-house-baked ‘Coconut Blondies’. It’s a chocolate-covered oatmeal ball stuffed with lots of sweet coconut.

Art as Recreation
In the University area there’s no doubt that art will be displayed. Muddy Waters is a proud supporter of the Strathcona arts community and therefore displays local art in their rotating, monthly art shows. This gives locales the opportunity to not only display their work but also have the possibility of selling some pieces. Enjoy a cup of java and enjoy the groove over a Guinness and a chocolate chip cookie at Muddy Waters.
