The Myer Horowitz Theatre may be one of the best mid-sized venues in Edmonton for concerts. It's big enough to attract performers like Emmylou Harris and Ladysmith Black Mambazo, but small enough to give audiences a close-up view of the folks on stage. This theatre can hold up to 720 people. It has been host to many musicians and well known plays and dramas.
Not Just a Theatre
Its collegial location at the Student Union Building (SUB) on the U of A campus means it always has fresh faces to cast. It has hosted a number of theatrical performances over the years. The Myer Horowitz is flexible enough to be used for dance shows, including a recent appearance by the Ballet Jazz de Montreal. The theatre also has a lobby for stand up receptions, and a full sound system.
Convenience & Art
With a fully equipped box office, several large dressing rooms, and areas for make-up and showers, all your performers will be happy here. The floors are made of painted black maple; good for theatre acoustics. There is even a Baldwin Grand piano if needed. There is also plenty of nearby parking in the Windsor parking lot, and the SUB is close to surface bus routes and the nearby University LRT station.
