Familiar appetizers like spring rolls, and gyoza (Japanese dumplings), share space with Indonesian chicken satays and pork dumplings. People seeking a little greenery for an appetizer may want to dig into the ginger sesame salmon salad. Dinner entrées include the standard meats like beef, chicken and prawns, but the flavour options include coconut yellow curry prawns, seven flavour beef (which includes fennel, garlic and sweet Thai basil), and mango chicken. If there’s room for dessert, the caramel banana spring rolls with Chai tea ice cream are perfect for sharing. The bistro also features a wide range of wines and beers to help wash down dinner, including its house brand Big Wang beer.
The Deep South
OPM Asian Bistro is conveniently located smack dab in the city’s south side retail mecca known as South Edmonton Common. After shopping at any number of box stores or discount outlets, dropping in to OPM Bistro for a bite seems like a great way to relax and give those tired feet a rest. The opulent Asian décor, vaulted ceilings and sleek lines immediately dispel any assumptions regarding stereotypical Chinese restaurants. The dining room bathed in contemporary dark wood and modern color palette is a luxurious, urban space.
