Remedy feels right at home in the funky university area, close to Whyte Avenue. Independent film fans can watch the latest flick at the Garneau theatre and then head across the street for a cup of chai and some analytical conversation at Remedy. Or, those intent on the Whtye Ave scene can do their shopping and then relax just a few blocks away from the commotion at this coffee shop.
Check the Board for the Eats
The big blackboard menu boasts the variety of drinks our world of beverages has to offer: coffee and tea (Hot? Iced? Ginseng? Plain? Fancy?), moving on to milkshakes, soft drinks, beer, wine and cocktails. There was a time when Remedy's story would end right there, but no more. Now they have cookies and muffins and breakfast and lunch. The breakfast specials, served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., are mostly of the muffin/bagel/toast with coffee variety, the lunch/soup/sandwiches and coffee. Remedy has tasty Indian influenced dishes, adding to coffee shop’s eclectic style. Tandoori chicken is a favourite on the menu and can be enjoyed with your choice from an array of chai teas.
