So, how do you like your steak? Think of a permutation of the oh-so-tasty meat and chances are, the folks at the Sawmill Group perfected it long ago. With four locations in Edmonton, local folk are spoiled for choice. The Sawmill Group was founded in 1976 by Tom Goodchild, and quickly made a name for itself in the city. Their philosophy is providing top-quality products along with outstanding service, and here diners can truly have their Alberta beef and eat it, too.
The Food
The Sawmill Group are renowned for their Salad and Oyster Bars, and their gorgeous Prime Rib simply melts in your mouth. Also highly recommended is the New York Steak Neptune, served with ultra-fluffy Yorkshire Pudding on the side. Or, choose any style of steak or ribs you want in any size, from six ounces to Godzilla-style proportions. Their are also several delightful fresh fish and poultry dishes on the menu that are prepared with equal care and attention to the clearly favourite choice of beef.
The Locations
Each Sawmill Restaurant embodies the feel of a rustic mill, with exposed beams and plenty of wood accents. Each one also possesses its own distinct features, however, which leads several to find their favourite and stick with it. The original location on Gateway Boulevard sports a large, popular patio, the Terra Losa's lounge is often packed with sports fans, the Oliver Square's kitchen has a penchant for fresh fish cooked over a mesquite grill and the final Capilano location has a unique layout that will set the standard for all Sawmills in the future.
