Spago certainly provides a taste of Portugal with a variety of memorable dishes. You can start it off simple with deep-fried calamari, chorizo sausage or the antipasto carnes frias (a meat and cheese appetizer plate). The fisherman's platter (halibut, half a lobster, an assortment of seafood and even a chunk of striploin steak) offers a bit of everything, while the bacalhua a spago (cod, potatoes and a lemony cream baked in a clay pot) is about as authentically Portuguese as it gets.
Go Italian in Portugal
If you’re craving pasta, the Spago menu won’t disappoint. Try the cannelloni veal with two meat filled crepes and a choice of mushroom cream or tomato sauce. Maria’s Special includes delectable treats like cod fish, mussels, clams, and calamari; the special is a great choice for two people who love seafood. A tremendous selection of robust wines from the host country will only add to your meal.
