While in the Beverly neighborhood, if you’re seized by the urge for a sweet something, head to Take Five for freshly made donuts anytime of the day, starting at 5 a.m., Monday to Friday. All your favorites – sugar raised, honey or chocolate glazed donuts, dutchies, crullers with delicate twists, freshly dunked apple or blueberry fritters, or ‘sweet nuthins’ donut holes– await you when you walk through the doors. Try a cream supreme topped with chocolate, black forest filled with cherry filling, or Hawaiian donut topped with festive sprinkles. If you’re more in the mood for thick homemade pastry, dive your fork into the flaky richness of lemon meringue, blueberry or apple pie.
Old Fashioned Food at Old Fashioned Prices
Take Five offers incredibly reasonably priced lunch specials, so drop by if you’re in the mood for a deli sandwich made to order, a piping hot bowl of soup, or homemade chili and a biscuit to go along with your donut and coffee.
Room for All
Take Five’s convenient location and ample parking make it the perfect stop for a quick snack, to visit with friends, or to gather after Church. The ten tables, short counter, and a long bench along the side can accommodate singles and crowds of up to fourteen. Sunshine spilling through the floor to ceiling windows add a light cheery atmosphere to this sensible, no-nonsense, down home donut shop.
The Story Behind the Name
The name of this shop was chosen by the owner as homage to the regular customers who used to invite him to ‘take five’ and sit down and visit with them over morning coffee. In fact, some of the regular customers have been taking five at this cozy but comfortable donut shop for decades, since the 1970’s when the owner first took the shop over. Take Five has tasty food, and a relaxed ambiance from early morning until late at night, so keep it in mind when you want to ‘take five’ while in the Beverly neighborhood.
