More than You Bargained For
Picture it: you’re looking for a quiet night; some good food and drink, quiet conversation with some nice piano music in the background. Good food and drink; you bet, quiet times at the Ivory Club and Ebony Lounge? Highly unlikely!

Patron Participation Expected
The Ivory Club and Ebony Lounge is located on Edmonton’s south side, on Calgary Trail. It’s Edmonton’s only dueling piano bar, which means that—more often that not—you’re going to walk into this venue and witness two equally talented and enthusiastic piano players rocking out the assembled crowd. For a small fee ($5 to $20, depending on the time of night and the complexity of the song) the pianists will take requests and play what you want to hear. Similar to karaoke format, patrons are encouraged—expected, really—to sing along and the evening usually ends up with at least a few table tops having been cleared as impromptu dance floors.

Talent and Range Make for an Interesting Evening
There are five pianists that rotate on two beautiful pianos, so there’s not a moment that goes by without music at this establishment. The performances range from piano-heavy artists like Elton John to the less-likely, but no less impressive, songs of Eminem or the Spice Girls. The Club also offers pool and foosball tables, as well as a wide selection of tapas and lighter-fare items. According to the owners of the nightclub, “The Ivory Club Dueling Piano Bar is a sing-along, clap-along, drink-along, have-one-helluva-good-time-along bar! One thing we can promise you is that a visit to The Ivory Club will result in a night of extreme singing, clapping, and laughing. If your voice and hands aren't sore the next day, we haven't done our job!” Now that’s a promise worth looking into.
