It isn’t Geeky to be a Theatre Nerd Anymore
Having completed its makeover to what it is today, the Transalta Arts Barns has been a theatrical venue success since 2003. Having an impressive history, the Old Strathcona location was perfect for erecting a venue that catered to the year-round, art-hungry community there. Surrounded by both the wholesome farmer’s market and relics of the Edmonton Radial Railway, the Arts Barns have settled-in nicely.

Stage Left, Stage Right and Off Stage
The Arts Barns is a versatile venue that seats approximately 400 people. The theatre space can be altered to suit the type of show that is being performed there. Flanked by a spacious lobby, elegant boardroom, studio spaces and a studio theatre, and the Westbury theatre, the Arts Barns has room for both the audience and the performer. The Arts Barns is also available to rent for special occasions, lunches, dinners, product launches and presentations.

Centre Stage
Not resolving to stick to one type of theatre, the Arts Barns presents a variety of theatre companies. Their season is sprinkled with physical theatre, children’s performances, theatrical opera, environmentally-friendly theatre with a message, concert theatre and a slough of others. What is refreshingly unique about the Arts Barns is that it offers the general public a variety of uniquely produced shows for a reasonable price. There are a number of school performances that the venue puts on during the week and in the afternoon so that children too can learn the joys of going to the theatre.
