Ukrainian Book Store

10215 97 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T5J 0L5

780-422-4255

It's really no surprise that the Ukrainian Book Store was one of the first bookstores to open in Edmonton in 1914, when immigrants from the Ukraine were helping to transform this province from desolate forest into one of the great boom spots of the world.

Books, Books and More Books
The Ukrainian Bookstore is the perfect place to find traditional and modern Ukrainian books. And the shop has recently launched a special cook book section for English and Ukrainian readers who want to learn a few of the old recipes. There's a wide selection of magazines from across the Ukraine, Canada and the United States, too.

Specialty Items Too
Despite the extensive collection of hard-to-find books, the name "Ukrainian Bookstore" is a bit of a misnomer since its shelves are stocked with as many specialty items as books. You’ll find unusual music, videos, jewellery, greeting cards, gift items, crafts and even kits to make beautiful pysanka (Easter eggs).

Fabulous Threads
This unique store also carries lots of traditional fabric and patterns, so it's a great spot to visit when making traditional Ukrainian costumes, or of you're looking for an embroidered centre piece to celebrate a holiday meal. Or pick something enticing from the racks of pre-made clothing available in the store. They carry a wide selection of clothing for men and women, including traditional and modern fashions popular in the Ukraine and in the Ukrainian community. You can even buy embroidered greeting cards.
