A Modern Diner
Although the food at the Urban Diner pays homage to a bygone era, you won’t find anything else circa 1950s about this popular eatery. Gone are the red leather seats and revolving pastry coolers. Instead like the name says, patrons are treated to a modern comfortable space with deep rich woods and contemporary colours. Diners who prefer a booth are in luck, the restaurant has several and the summer patio offers a perfect choice for al fresco dining.

Simple Pleasures
The lunch and dinner menu is chock full of comfort food. Nothing too fancy, just familiar favourites served up with a twist or two. Lunch includes frittatas, huevos rancheros and fish and chips, as well as bagel sandwiches, chilli, salad and soups. Dinner continues that theme with items like diner mac n’ cheese featuring cavatappi noodles topped with sharp cheddar cheese or a shepherd’s pie of ground beef, corn, herbs, mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes and topped with stir-fry veggies. Or try the meatloaf, topped with cranberry chutney and mushroom gravy.

Bountiful Brunch
Of course, if you want to enjoy the diner experience without the workday rush, many delectable dishes are featured on their weekend brunch menu. Rich and flavourful eggs Benedict (salmon, Portabella or traditional) served with grilled French bread and diner potatoes, hearty steak and eggs, or a sweet sampling of lightly grilled French toast. On the lighter side, order up a bowl of homemade granola; consider a side of fresh fruit or a warm, sticky cinnamon bun. The Urban Diner will also take care of the kids, with a special menu tailored to their tastes and pint sized appetites.
