Nestled cozily away in the Riverbend area, Whitemud Nature Reserve can be accessed from several locations. The reserve boasts of a wide sweeping path through the trees for easy hiking. Or follow several smaller trails for a more challenging hike. Owned by the city of Edmonton, there is no charge for using the reserve. You can enjoy an inexpensive day outdoors amidst the glory of nature.
A River Runs Through It
Whitemud Nature Reserve offers a healthful hike down a well-maintained, winding slope. The main trail is surrounded by a slew of gorgeous deciduous and evergreen trees. Get even closer to nature by taking the smaller trails that meander right through the thicket. At the bottom of the ravine the soothing sounds of a rushing river await you. The river is one of the reserves highlights. No bicycles or motor vehicles interrupt the peace and calm of the reserve, since they are not permitted. This enhances the serene environment and creates a safe place for walkers to contemplate their surroundings.

Directions: Vehicle access is from Whitemud Park, at Fox Drive and 138 Street, or from Rainbow Valley Park at 43 Avenue and 122 Street.
Restrictions: No bicycles or other vehicles allowed - Pets are not allowed in common picnic areas or on equestrian trails.
Tip: There are paved and gravel trails within the reserve.
