Taste of the Rising Son in the Land of the Ice and Snow
Open since the summer of 2006, this traditional Japanese restaurant offers time-honored Asian delicacies including a wide array of sushi and tempura. Zen Shabu recognizes that there is more to Japanese food than simple sushi and tempura. Their menu boasts an assortment of Shabu Shabu dishes (Japanese hot pot) as well as a few western items including salads. Open for both lunch and dinner, the newly established Zen Shabu Restaurant is located on the outskirts of Edmonton’s historic China Town, making it a perfect lunch hour getaway for people working in the downtown core.

In addition to the establishment’s quality entrées, the restaurant offers a wide array of beverages including western staples as well as an extensive selection of Eastern drink specials such as sake, shochu, beer, and green tea. The Scene
Upon arriving at the location, you enter through a large Japanese style door and are seated in one of the restaurant’s private rooms that exude a relaxing ambience. First timers may be discouraged due to the restaurants inner city location, but once inside you are treated to moderately priced food, helpful staff and a tranquil atmosphere.
